Summary

Fully managed Data Centre migration project which involved working in tandem with client’s new Data Centre provider.

Credit Agricole is an international banking group and one of the largest banks in France, they wanted to migrate a total of 400 extremely critical servers from Credit Agricole’s offices in London to Slough.

What were the challenges & risks involved?

Project had to have minimum downtime as it involved mission critical data for business continuity.

Detailed migration planning was needed as project involved complexities due to the large number of servers.

What was our solution?

Assigned a dedicated project manager to oversee entire project, the resource was embedded in client and vendor meetings to ensure project planning was in line with desired outcome. Split the migration into 4 phases over an 8-week period to reduce disruption.

Conducted physical audit and pre-cabling weeks before scheduled migration and migrated equipment in phases, starting with production equipment, then servers and finally storage followed by remaining devices.

Our proven migration methodology of audit, trace, pre-cabling, de and re-commissioning ensured all critical data centre infrastructure were migrated within the agreed timescales.

Re-commissioned and connected the equipment, undertook final checks before handing the equipment back over to the client to power up.

Outcomes

Project managed approach reduced efforts & risk for the client.

The project was delivered within agreed timescales.

Phased migration ensured business continuity and minimal disruption.
