At Technimove, we take pride in nurturing the next generation of talent by offering immersive and hands-on work experience placements. Recently, we welcomed a passionate student who joined us after being inspired by a talk from our CEO, Ochea Ikpa. Over the course of a week, Daniel S.W. experienced life across various departments from IT and sales to digital marketing and operations.
Below, you can read Daniel’s own words about his experience, lessons learned, and the unexpected joy they found in the professional world.

I chose Technimove as my work experience as the CEO Mr Ochea came to my school and gave a speech about being the best of your ability and not to wait for success but to go and get it yourself. I came hoping to learn more about general IT, but they offered much more.
On my first day I meet Mr Ochea as well as the Administration manager (Tony) who accompanied me throughout the week. My first task was to make a simple presentation a presentation that made me understand much more about the company that I thought I had known. They made me feel part of the team, they had made me feel welcomed.
After I had finished that task tony informed me on a project and had asked me to do. He asked me to research the internet for flight cases to boost the company, so I did. After I found a few websites eligible I had sent him what he needed. After this It was becoming the end of the day ad for my final task was to research what GDPR is after I did Mr Ochea called me into his office and asked why I wanted work experience her, so I told him that his speech was truly inspirational and that why I applied he even told me that out of the 360 plus people I was the only one to ask for a place at Technimove. Afterward I had begun to start my way back home.
My week at Technimove has been more enjoyable that I can imagine, I thought office work was boring, but I was clearly mistaken. From working down in the warehouse counting polos and testing systems to making PowerPoints explaining how product managers operate and what attributes make them skilled individuals and looking at people’s profiles at LinkedIn to see if they will be a good person at the company.
Throughout my days here I have done a range of things from stocking the fridge to going into their London office and learning stuff from an amazing account development manager Kiran or learning skills from Tolu the digital marketing executive who handles the company’s posts and advertisements with the help of Marketing Manager Dave. With the marketing team I developed skills in WordPress, HubSpot, and LinkedIn Analytics while uploading an official blog post.
What really surprised me working in a tech business is it’s not all servers, computers and high tech there more to it there’s salespeople, project managers, and so much more. The best thing in my opinion is that without one the whole business will struggle.
My time here at both the London office and the Croydon office as well has shown me that the people are in union and make you feel like a part of the team, like Daniel who let me in the building to the people I have had meetings with like Matt the administration assistant, Kester the warehouse operative, Sophie the people and talent partner , Julia the head of projects and the people who helped me out throughout the day or like kai the Service desk engineer who gave me the laptop which I am writing this on. There are much more people who have helped in various ways, and which made my experience the best and given a real insight to the big world. Throughout this week I have taken many countless experiences whether that is presentation or certain attributes that a leader might have.
Again, thanks very much for Technimove who have given me the best work experience I could ever ask for
