Many organisations implemented M365 quickly during COVID but haven’t fully utilised its capabilities. “Many businesses rapidly adopted M365 during COVID but haven’t revisited their setup, leaving costly inefficiencies unchecked,” he explains.

 

Since then, Microsoft has introduced numerous features that businesses may not even be aware they have access to. Through cost optimisation strategies, Carl identifies inefficiencies, helping clients consolidate services and make better use of their existing investments.

 

For example, many businesses invest in third-party security and compliance solutions alongside their Microsoft 365 licensing, often unaware that their existing plan includes powerful, built-in capabilities. “Normally, a security team would have to manually investigate risks and determine the best course of action, but Copilot can analyse security incidents in real time, providing insights into suspicious logins, privilege escalation attempts, and other potential threats,” Carl explains.

 

By leveraging AI-driven automation, businesses can move from a reactive to a proactive security model, ensuring continuous monitoring and improved response times. “It’s about giving clients peace of mind – knowing their environment is constantly being assessed for risks and compliance gaps, with actionable insights to strengthen their security posture,” he adds.

Carl is also passionate about expanding Technimove’s Azure capabilities. With the rising costs of VMware licensing following its acquisition by Broadcom, many businesses are exploring cost-effective alternatives. “A lot of smaller businesses are being priced out of VMware and are considering a cloud-first approach. This is a huge opportunity for us to grow our Azure services and help businesses transition smoothly,” Carl explains.

For Carl, a thriving company culture is essential. He recalls the energy and camaraderie of working in a small company, where everyone knew each other and shared a collective drive toward success. His mission at Technimove is to foster that same culture of openness, trust, and teamwork.

 

One of Carl’s defining characteristics is his hands-on approach to problem-solving and remediation. “If there’s something that needs improving, I won’t just take it away and fix it—I’ll work with you to resolve it and show you how,” he explains. Away from his ‘day job,’ Carl is a keen runner and into CrossFit.
Before joining Technimove, Carl spent many years as one of the Technical Leads on major sporting events, including the London Marathon, RideLondon Classique, and the INEOS 1:59 Challenge. His involvement in these high-profile events is a testament to his expertise, teamwork, and ability to deliver at scale.
