Technimove delivered a strategic specialist migration for a global IT infrastructure provider and their supply chain client, providing six months of embedded project management and infrastructure transition with zero business disruption.
Client Overview
Technimove was selected as the trusted migration partner by a global leader in IT infrastructure services. This multinational enterprise, headquartered in New York City, was formed following the strategic spin-off of one of the world’s most renowned OEMs.
Today, it operates as the largest IT infrastructure services provider globally and ranks among the top five consulting service firms.
The end-client in this engagement was a high-performance, international supply chain network provider, offering fully integrated, end-to-end visibility and management solutions for complex logistics ecosystems.
Project Overview
While the physical migration involved only nine devices, the mission-critical nature of the infrastructure and the sensitivity of business continuity for the end-user elevated the importance of this operation significantly.
Technimove was embedded into the client’s project management structure for six months, attending weekly planning meetings with the global IT provider’s infrastructure and delivery teams to ensure precise alignment and risk mitigation.
Scope of Services Provided
Technimove delivered a full-service solution, supporting the project lifecycle from initial planning to post-migration assurance.
Project Management
Technimove’s dedicated project managers were fully integrated into the client’s internal governance and delivery framework. This included:
- Weekly touchpoints with project stakeholders
- Full verification of equipment lists, rack layouts, and patching schedules
- Creation of tailored migration runbooks for execution confidence
- Management of logistical timelines, dependencies, and contingencies
- On-site and virtual presence to overcome strategic hurdles and minimise risks
This end-to-end management ensured continuity, collaboration, and complete transparency throughout the operation.
Physical Audit & Cable Trace
A thorough physical audit was conducted to map out existing infrastructure, ensuring readiness and validating key components for relocation.
Audit Outcomes:
- Device make, model, U-position, and serial number documentation
- Port population verification (e.g., RJ45, Fibre)
- Labelling of all dedicated interconnecting cables (SCSI, etc.)
- Production of rack plans and patching schedules in structured formats
Technimove also performed a full cable trace from servers to switch ends, providing the client with a complete blueprint of their live cabling configuration. This empowered the client’s design teams to accurately plan the destination environment and reduce post-migration troubleshooting.
Decommission to Recommission (Migration Execution)
The physical move was conducted between Portsmouth and Harlow, scheduled during standard working hours (08:00–11:00, Monday to Friday) to fit within operational support windows.
Execution Process:
- Client backed up and powered down systems prior to Technimove’s arrival
- Engineers de-racked equipment and securely packaged all hardware in anti-static wrap and foam-lined flight cases
- All rail kits and cables labelled and packed systematically
- Optional security tagging and itinerary sign-off provided peace of mind for client site leads
- Equipment transported via GPS-tracked Technimove vehicles directly to the destination
- Devices were unpacked and re-installed as per destination rack plans, then re-patched into pre-cabled infrastructure
- Hand-off to client technical team for testing and final sign-off
Post-Commissioning Support
Recognising the importance of final-stage assurance, Technimove provided:
- On-site presence of two engineers for up to four hours post-migration
- Immediate support for patching validation, snag resolution, and cable replacement
- Rapid response to any last-minute configuration adjustments
This final phase gave the client confidence and control over the handover process, ensuring that no unforeseen issues impacted their go-live.
Client Feedback
The migration team received direct commendation from the client’s project leadership:
“Thank you for the excellent support in moving the hardware devices. Neat execution by the Technimove professionals and a perfect job.
Wonderful support by Deanne and Luca throughout the project lifecycle.
All the best and looking forward to working with your team again.”
— Associate Director, Portfolio Management
Outcome & Impact
Despite the limited number of devices involved in the migration, the project’s complexity and critical importance demanded a high level of precision, coordination, and trust. By embedding directly into the infrastructure provider’s project team, Technimove played a pivotal role in ensuring a seamless execution across all phases of the migration.
The process was completed without disruption to business operations, and all infrastructure was successfully transitioned within the agreed timeframe and under strict governance controls.
The success of this engagement further reinforced Technimove’s reputation as a reliable and strategic partner for complex IT migrations. The client’s positive feedback, particularly regarding Technimove’s professionalism, communication, and attention to detail, reflected the high standard of service delivered.
Ultimately, the project not only achieved its immediate technical objectives but also deepened the client relationship—demonstrating Technimove’s capability to support critical infrastructure moves for high-performance, global environments.
